Rev. Dr Paul Tonson of Australia is exploring teaching opportunities during his period of leave next year in 2009.

Paul grew up in New Zealand and pastored churches of the Baptist Union of New Zealand. He spent 3 years in Papua New Guinea teaching Melanesian theological students of the United Church.

Currently he is pastoring in Melbourne and assessing students in distance theological education for Coolamon College (Uniting Church) and for Trinity Anglican Theological College.

Paul’s special area of theological expertise is the Old Testament, particularly Genesis and Deuteronomy. His method is to interpret the Christian faith against its Jewish background and to elaborate both the continuity and the change between the Old and New Testaments. He is able to teach both biblical Hebrew and Greek.

Paul hopes to be free to serve for several months from April (after Easter) to October, or even until Christmas (first northern semester).

Paul’s wife, Gillian, may accompany him, but they would be open to a request for a term which might just involve Paul.

Regions where Paul might serve are the Middle East, India, Viet Nam, Eastern Europe.

Do ask me if you would like more information and/or Paul’s details to enable you to contact him directly.
